A cookie is a small text file that a website stores on your device so it can recognize you on your next visit. Used well, cookies make a site faster and more useful. Used badly, they track you without your consent across the open web. PowerPlay uses cookies in the first category and asks for explicit, granular consent before any non-essential cookie is set on your device. This policy explains exactly what is set, why and how to change your mind.
We use four categories of cookies. Strictly necessary cookies keep you logged in, remember your shopping basket on the offers page and protect against cross-site request forgery. These cannot be switched off because the site would not work without them. Functional cookies remember preferences like language, dark mode and the games on your favourites list. Analytics cookies measure how players move around the site so we can spot broken funnels and improve the experience. Marketing cookies allow us and our partners to show you relevant promotions on third-party sites. Functional, analytics and marketing cookies require your consent.
A pixel is a tiny invisible image embedded in a page or email that lets us measure whether the page or email was viewed. Local storage and session storage are browser-based storage areas that behave like cookies but live inside the browser rather than as separate files. PowerPlay uses pixels to measure email open rates and the performance of marketing campaigns. We use local storage to remember the state of the cookie consent banner and a small amount of session data that improves the speed of page transitions. Pixels and storage technologies follow the same consent rules as cookies.
The first time you visit PowerPlay you see a consent banner that lets you accept all cookies, reject all non-essential cookies or open the preference panel to choose category by category. Your choices are remembered for 12 months. To change your mind at any time, tap "Cookie settings" in the footer of any page and the preference panel reopens. Withdrawing consent stops the relevant cookies being set going forward but does not delete cookies already on your device. Your browser settings give you a separate set of controls including the option to clear all cookies and to block them entirely.
Analytics cookies are processed by a small set of regulated analytics providers who handle the data on our behalf and do not use it for their own purposes. Marketing cookies set by our advertising partners can be used to show PowerPlay promotions on third-party sites if you have consented to marketing cookies. We do not sell cookie data to data brokers. The full list of third-party cookie providers is in the preference panel alongside a link to each provider's privacy policy, so you can make an informed decision before granting consent.
